Ahh a wedding in France, what could be more magical? As a photographer, to be asked to photograph a wedding in Europe is truly the most exciting honor. Metz, France – a truly magical location for a wedding under normal circumstances, but the venues these two chose were simply out of this world gorgeous. The ceremony was held in the Temple Neuf on a little island in the middle of a river and the wedding ceremony was a short walk away at what was originally an Abbey in the 1200’s (or sometime around then..) then was converted by Napoleon to be housing for his army and is still used as such to this day. The day of the wedding dawned a clear and perfect 70 degrees and the entire day from getting dressed to the end went without a hitch. Let me just say, the French KNOW how to party!! Dinner began at 8:30 with chilled melon soup, then came fois gras, scallops and risotto (AMAZING) then the dances happened around 10:30 and at 11pm steak was served…then more dancing….then every kind of cheese known to man….then more dancing…..then dessert at around 1:30am!!! The crazy thing is that yes this is a ton of food but with all the time in between you burn it off and are ready to eat again! 🙂
Needless to say, this wedding was a true stunner and we could not have been happier that Becca and Michael asked us to be a part of their day, I love that I can now add “French wedding photographer” to my resume. Forgiving the fact that my French is marginal at best and I am not French in the least. I do love France and would love to photograph another wedding in Europe someday – there isn’t much more romantic than that 🙂
