Wow – where to even begin with this wedding. I could probably write a novel’s worth of information about this day but here is the “condensed” version (I use the term loosely):
I would say the running theme of the day was Love is Patient. Melissa knew long ago that Brad was “the one” – the day the cute older boy moved in across the street she was hooked. I loved hearing about her schoolgirl crush via her father’s speech, accompanied by pictures of her middle school doodlings with Brad’s name all over them. Rumor has it she even drank Dr. Pepper for a year after finding out this was Brad’s favorite drink and it’s possible her first car purchase (a Monte Carlo) was influenced by Brad’s last name being Montgomery. Sorry Melissa – too cute not to share with the world 😉
This led to that and it just so happens that one night they met for real. Melissa’s patience had paid off – talk about dedication! Another recurring theme was Melissa’s kind heart. I think I heard this from 5 different people and I know that it’s how I would classify her as well. That and delightfully Mary Tyler Moore-ish. In the best, stylish, pretty, fun, bubbly way possible. And I really hope everyone knows who Mary Tyler Moore is and has seen at least one episode of Dick Van Dyke in their lives. Ok – rabbit trail!
The Reception. Yes, it needs to be capitalized it was that amazing. Fear not – no peacocks were harmed during the making of this event 😉 Pumpkin tortellini and pumpkin cupcakes – need I say more? Photo booth that was never empty. Christy and I even made a quick appearance in it.
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten misty during a father-daughter dance (don’t judge, I’m incredibly cry-y 99% of the time, ask hubby, just not typically from behind the camera) but this one really got me. Dancing to “Sweet Melissa”…just could not be any more beautiful.
The party was fantastic, wigs were worn, dancing did.not.stop, tuxedo shirt sleeves were cut off, and a fantastic time was had by all.
So that was super condensed from what I had originally written – basically we just absolutely loved these two and all involved with their wedding and wish them all the very best in their life together.
“But Lisa…I need my phone!” 🙂
